Hi folks!

I am writing after a lonnnngngggg time! Missed blogging, really!

I am here in Chennai and I am loving and understanding it’s culture for the very first time actually…The food is one of the highlights apart from the silk Saree and jewelery. I am loving Chennai for the very first time and I think one main reason is My Master’s presence here and I got a chance to see Him.

About this post, South Indian Filter coffee: we ourselves in spite of being south Indians, never could really appreciate this beverage until since about a year back, when we fell over it head over heels!:) Now anywhere we go here in US we carry our own beverage and if in India we insist on going with coffee! This is ONLY for filter coffees and not for the rgular instant ones that we have around and which I think a lot of coffee lovers use! I dont know what makes this so special: maybe the way it is brewed and steamed to the way the chicory and coffee are mixed to I dont know what…Just I think anything traditional and authentic in this age of speed and haste and modern makes it endearing adding loads to flavor to it.

South Indian Filter

So this is what the filter looks like with its upper jar; lower jar and the lid on top and with this filter spoon inside to push the decoction into the lower jar.

South Indian Filter with Coffee

Procedure is very simple: Just add 2-3 teaspoons of coffee on the upper jar, while it is attached to its lower jar to make one unit.

The complete filter

Heat water separately.

Make sure you put the other filter spoon on top of the powder to compress the powder adequately.

South Indian Coffee

Pour the boiling water on top of the jar and shut the lid tightly for some minutes.

Later when u open the lower jar, u shall find the decoction there; ready for use.

Boil milk as requirement and add sugar to taste.

Now mix the decoction with the milk and sugar separately and pour it into the cups with bubbles on top! (that’s the force used to pour it for it to lather a bit: very cool to look at )

This is ready to serve with any snacks or plain nothing!
